Flight of the Kestrel features a theme accompanied by arpeggios and pulsating repeated notes which gives the music an ever-present driving energy signifying flight. This work features opportunities for younger musicians that will allow them to focus on more advanced compositional techniques For instance, a central fugal section provides the players to listen for balance, while, at the climax of the work, the players are sure to enjoy a brief aleatoric gesture, encouraging them to avoid synchronizing with each other.
